* PWU's Mission
Statement - A company for the wrestlers, by the wrestlers. After having
people "Experience the New Edge", the core of PWU is back to where it
needs to be as we move into the next evolution of "Wrestle-Reality".
Johnny Kashmere, PWU's C.E.O. & founder is back firmly with the reigns
of the company in his hands. Nate Stein is the Executive Vice
President. Then we will have a new PWU Commissioner.
* PWU Commissioner Idol - A LEGITIMATE contest.
The nine finalists can come back July 26 & have the chance to have their
say. THAT NIGHT, fans can decide who will be the NEW PWU COMMISSIONER.
If someone is unable to attend, we will pick new finalists before July
26. Those wanting to confirm their attendance or to step in, e-mail
info@prowrestlingunplugged.com.
* What is Wrestle-Reality? In the 80s, it was
"Rock & Wrestling" the inclusion of wrestling as a part of pop culture.
The 90s were defined by "The Attitude Era". This decade, there's been a
need to fill the void left from the "Monday Night Wars". More interest
in the genres like hardcore, lucha-libre, puroseru, strong style, smart
mark, etc.
On television, you can see the success of things
like Survivor & VH1's "Celeb-Reality", the transition in the coming
decade will be this full emersion into reality. We will be on the
forefront with PWU's "Wrestle-Reality".
You'll see our superstars like you've never seen
them before. At home, at work, with their families. When there's a
peak behind the scenes, we put you behind the scenes. The key piece is
YOU.
I don't want to give some of this away, because to
buy into it, you should be kept on your toes. How would it feel if what
you say or do at a live event dictates what happens at PWU? What would
it be like for YOU to become a part of the event itself. That's
Wrestle-Reality. Not an insult to your intelligence, but making you
integral to how PWU should be.
* From Matthew Cavanaugh - Why did you decide to
leave the New Alhambra Arena? Was it because of the rumored problems
between Johnny & Roger?
No, Johnny & Roger get along great. We've
coordinated our dates together so talent can get more bookings. Johnny
& Trent Acid, along with The SAT have been close for years. An arena
employee used racial slurs at The SAT after they could have potentially
damaged some of his equipment. In the end, it was a better situation
for everyone to just leave.
* Also from Matthew - Why the world gym? What about
people who have to catch the bus & cross Roosevelt Ave?
The World Gym is a venue that suits us well. As
for the bus piece, I really don't know. But if there's a bus station
like right across the street, doesn't that make it more convenient to
get to than the Arena?
It's also not the venue that defines the
promotion. The promotion should give meaning and make good use of the
space it has. PWU is doing something on the forefront of wrestling and
it should be more about our mission and satisfying our fans.
* From Eric Bartsch - What's the status of the
Crazy 8, and what about PowerSurge TV?
The Crazy 8 will return, it's a PWU original
concept. It is a part of our very core & close to our hearts.
Power Surge TV IS gone for now. When it left the
air, we continued with the internet broadcast. But to be consistent
with our message, we want to give you something a little more direct
than that & put actual matches right on our website.
*
ProWrestlingUnplugged.com Enhancements:
There is something new almost DAILY on the site. The new fan intensive
experience called "High Voltage" is in an interactive experience, where
fans can take a peek at who we've selected to be our Most Valuable
Player and see who is in the Penalty Box. Someone who, more or less,
really deserves a good time out.
* From Peter Calogerakos & Joseph White - Would PWU
do a show outside of the Philadelphia area?
It comes down to the financial cost and where our
crowd is. Wrestling is not at the height it once was & to blindly run
into a new area without making sure the interest, along with that local
financial support being there is a huge risk. We're sure of our
product, but we'd want to make sure it's something that crowd would come
to.
There have been some talks about having a PWU event
in the mid-west.
* From Casey - Rumors of Tod Gordon & him leaving
Pro Wrestling because of them.
When this one was said yesterday, I was floored. I
normally keep my ear to the ground & hadn't heard this one.
Legitimately, Tod's father is very ill. His financial & time
commitments need to be with his family, as they should be.
* On July 26th, PWU brings you "Family Reunion"
right there & in person at The World Gym, 11000 Roosevelt Boulevard in
Northeast Philadelphia with a 7:30 pm belltime.
There will be THREE main events for this show.
Our first main event, a #1 Contendership to the PWU
World Heavyweight championship, is a rematch from N.W.E. in Italy, as
"International Superstar" Trent Acid takes on - "THE MASTERPIECE" CHRIS
MASTERS.
"Fabulous" John McChesney will also defend the PWU
World Heavyweight championship against an opponent to be announced on
Memorial Day. ALL PWU TITLES will be on the line in July.
Ticket locations include Ontario Street Comics,
George's Cards & Collectibles, as well as The World Gym, starting this
Saturday at 2 pm. Internet sales will be up when we announce
confirmation on our second of our three main events.
There will be a limited amount of very special
Backstage passes. Bringing Wrestle-Reality right to you, you can see
what it's like behind the scenes at PWU. These tickets will be on sale
once the internet sales are up & running.
We will also have a seminar on July 26th, but more
on that as we get closer to "Family Reunion".
* Future PWU Events: Next Tuesday, May 6th we will
be releasing the date of the June Baseball Benefit event for the Council
Rock Holland Little League in Holland, PA.
After July 26th's "Family Reunion event", PWU
returns the fourth Saturday of every month straight through until
October. You can check all the latest on our upcoming events and dates
at
ProWrestlingUnplugged.com
You will see the returns of Sunny & Blue Meanie.
Burt Ward has reached out to us about coming back. We're also talking
with Garrison Carrida, the 501st Storm Troopers Legion, and the band
from last year's Crazy 8 Red Carpet, Shovelhook.
* Annihilation's message - "We do not hire
criminals, people who cause trouble who have criminal records, under
investigation for assault on your woman, racists. Do not put things on
the internet that are not true. Get your story straight. You have
eight million stories out there. Find the truth first before making
anything up or find a lawsuit on your hands."
* From Austin Grimes - With the announcement of PWU
broadcasting on Stickam for this press conference, don't you think it
would be a great idea to broadcast live wrestling shows as well?
I agree, but 1) Internet connection can still be
fickle & we want to make sure it's something that we wouldn't have to go
back & say "oh whoops, didn't work out." 2) Look at Stickam right now.
I'm on a T1 line & look at the issues here. Watching wrestling like
this would drive me crazy.
Does that mean in the future we won't go back and
try this? No. But for right now, I don't know if the infrastructure is
there to really make it reliable.
* Questions from Tara Daly - Will markd ever come
back to pwu? Honestly, probably not.
Why did u strip Jack Evans of the Junior Title
after winning Crazy 10? Due to just booking schedules & conflicts. No
heat.
Lastly from Ms. Tara, What happen to the Animal house that was the
greatest venue beside the berywn tavern? The Animal House was PWU's
first real home a few exits up from the Arena in a warehouse area. Its
size limited us & the parking was crap. It wasn't the best neighborhood
either. In the end, there was a mix of some code violations with the
building itself & the owner wanted to use it for other things as well.
But we're moving on now.
